Universal Ignited - DISASTER! Grand Opening

This Update Includes:
• DISASTER! Grand Opening Review
• DISASTER! Grand Opening Pictures
• DISASTER! Grand Opening Video
• Simpsons Construction

Universal's latest attraction - DISASTER! A Major Motion Picture Ride...Starring You! opened on Thursday, January 17th, 2008. Fortunately, I was invited to the event and a blast (no pun intended).
Refurbishing old attractions must be the 'in' thing right now. Over at Disney they've refurbished The Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Spaceship Earth. While those refurbishments were nice, Universal had to have the best so far. Not only is it a refurbished Earthquake, they've brought in two celebrities from Hollywood to star in the ride.
Christopher Walken plays the CEO, CFO, COO, Writer, Producer and Director of DISASTER Studios, an independent film company located at Universal Studios Florida. Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson plays the hero in the film you are creating.
Universal finally put theme back into the attraction. Something Earthquake was lacking. The show before the ride moves faster and actually has a significant tie-in to the ride portion.
They've also adapted Musion technology into the ride (think Ballroom ghosts in Haunted Mansion)
Overall, the attraction gets 5 stars in my book. Couldn't of asked for a better replacement for Earthquake. While exiting the attraction you heard "WOW - Let's do that again!" and "That was awesome, how'd they do that?"
Head on over to Universal Orlando and make a DISASTER!
